Child Death Review Procedure

Child Death Review Procedure

Newcastle Safeguarding Children Board has a statutory responsibility for reviewing the deaths of all children under 18 years old who are resident in Newcastle.

It does this through two interrelated processes, which includes a rapid response process for those children who die unexpectedly and through a [North of Tyne] Child Death Overview Panel that reviews all child deaths, be it expected or unexpected, within Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

The procedure and guidance sets out how the two processes are implemented and what professionals need to do.
