North of Tyne Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP)
The North of Tyne Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) was established in 2008 in accordance with the Children Act 2004 and statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children (2010). It is collaboration between Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland Local Safeguarding Children Boards and is responsible for reviewing all child deaths up to 18 years old to determine whether any of them were preventable.
The Panel is committed to learning from every such preventable death in order to influence better outcomes for children at both local and national level, and to influence action that can be taken to reduce the number of child deaths in the future, as well as improving services to families and carers.
